Overview:
In an interconnected world dominated by social media and rapid information dissemination, the impact of organizational actions can ripple across industries, affecting reputation and trust. The "Ripple Effect: Safeguarding Reputation in the Age of Social Media and Contagion Risk" training session is designed to equip internal auditors with the essential knowledge and skills to navigate this complex landscape.
Participants will gain insights into the symbiotic relationship between social media, contagion risk, and reputation risk management and how to think about it from an internal audit perspective. Through real-world case studies (ie. social media and the run on Silicon Valley Bank) and interactive discussions, attendees will explore the intricacies of safeguarding an organization's reputation in an era where information travels at the speed of light.

Bio:
Dana Lawrence, CIA, CRMA, CFSA, CAMS, CRVPM, CCA, is the Senior Director of Fintech Compliance at Pacific West Bank and a Board Member at the Technology Association of Oregon. With 20 years of experience in financial services and technology, Lawrence has spent the last decade in governance leadership roles, helping build innovative fintechs such as Simple (the first neobank), Azlo (a fintech for SMBs), and Sila (a fintech aggregator). She has a proven track record of working collaboratively with regulators and navigating complex challenges in emerging technology.
At Pacific West Bank, Lawrence established and leads a best-in-class Banking as a Service (BaaS) program that emphasizes strong partnerships with fintech clients and delivers strong regulatory compliance results.
As a global community builder and thought leader in governance for emerging technology, Lawrence frequently speaks at professional organizations (IIA, ISACA, ACAMS, ACFE), industry events (Money20/20, Fintech Meetup), and to public and private sector audiences. She has provided live training to over 50,000 professionals and is recognized as an expert in her field.
In 2024, Lawrence was shortlisted as a global Governance, Risk, and Compliance Innovator of the Year. She is also the co-founder and co-host of the popular show In Fintech We Build Trust, launched in 2022, which highlights the vital role of audit, risk, and compliance professionals in fintech, Web3, and traditional financial services.

IIA–Kansas City Chapter Event Refund, Cancellation, and Complaint Policy:
The Chapter reserves the right to cancel an event due to insufficient participation or other unforeseen circumstances. If the Chapter cancels an event, the Chapter will notify registered attendees by e-mail a week prior to the event. Paid registrations will be refunded. No refunds will be granted for individual initiated cancelations. However, cancellations received prior to the posted registration deadline will receive a credit to attend a future meeting/seminar within one year. (Same number of CPE as the one canceled.) Event registrations are always transferable, so substitutions are allowed if are unable to attend. The chapter will make every effort to offer timely, well-delivered, and relevant training program. Please contact the IIA Secretary to register complaints related to the timeliness/accuracy of CPE credit reporting and the VP of Programs (Jamie.Paul@umb.com) regarding program delivery, complaints, or program content.
The Kansas City Institute of Internal Auditors is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
