Course Description:
Two senior leaders from the Austin Chapter, Kyle Crockett and Suzi Nelson, will present on third-party risks and mitigating strategies and Artificial Intelligence: future trends and control areas for audit risk. This overview will increase your knowledge of the impacts of AI to internal audit methods as well as the role of Internal Audit in third-party risk management. The specialized sesstion on the Cloud Security led by the special guest Michael Ratemo will introduces participants to the foundational concepts, tools, and techniques required to audit cloud environments effectively.

Instructors:
Kyle Crockettis an Associate Director within Protiviti’s Internal Audit and Financial Advisory practice based out Austin, Texas. Kyle has over 12 years of consulting experience at Protiviti focusing on internal audit and risk and compliance functions for large and mid-sized financial services clients. Kyle’s experience includes building a TPRM function at a mortgage servicing client, SME oversight for multiple TPRM audits, regulatory issue validation project management and quality assurance, and managing and executing integrated operational, IT, and compliance audits. Kyle is the current President of the Austin IIA chapter and holds a BBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Oklahoma.
Suzi Nelson serves as a Senior Auditor in the Office of Internal Audits at The University of Texas at Austin. In this role, she leads and performs financial, operational and technology audits as well as business consulting projects for the institution. Previous experience included state government, financial services, and the energy industry in roles including internal audit, project management, and technology services.
Suzi is President-Elect for the Austin Chapter of the IIA. She has been awarded and maintains the CPA, CIA, and CISA certifications. For the past two years, she held the position of Treasurer and worked on many of the organization’s efforts including professional development and training, academic relations, and financial oversight.
Special Guest and Cybersecurity Expert:
Michael Ratemo is a thought leader in the Cybersecurity field. He speaks security in a language businesses can understand and has built a career advising organizations on effective security strategies.
Michael is the author of the LinkedIn Learning courses “Cloud Security and Audit Fundamentals in AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud” and “Building and Auditing a Cyber Security Program.” In addition, he is the co-author of the “Cloud Auditing Best Practices” book.
Michael has authored various publications, including Control in the Cloud, which was featured in the Internal Auditor Magazine. Finally, Michael is a speaker and trainer at major industry events, including the RSA Conference and Cloud Security Alliance. Michael gives back to the community by providing mentorship and guidance to future security practitioners.
