Course Description:

Please join us with a presentation by Vik Rai, Managing Director of Internal Audit Cybersecurity, and Kaitlyn Ramirez, Senior Manager Advisory, from GRANT THORNTON.  Vik and Kaitlyn will describe current trends in AI, share some real-world success stories, but also walk through common challenges and risk mitigation approaches. From there they will also help us understand how Internal Audit can help to assess gaps in capabilities during AI audits including sharing methodologies for assessing the effectiveness of technical controls in AI systems. They will close by sharing strategies for communicating the benefits and risks of AI throughout the organization as well as leading practice organizations can consider as they mature their AI adoption.

Speaker Bio: 

Vik Rai is a Managing Director for Grant Thornton’s Advisory Risk services and leads the firm’s national IT and Cybersecurity Internal Audit practice. He has over 20 years of experience leading Cybersecurity transformation initiatives and leading internal audits focused on IT and Cybersecurity.  He is a subject matter specialist in Cybersecurity, Cloud Security, Ransomware Preparedness, Third-Party Risk Management, Data Governance and Data Protection audits. More recently, Vik has shared his learning and experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) with organizations to consider effective strategies when managing risks with AI.  He has experience assisting Chief Audit Executives, IT Audit Directors, Cybersecurity leaders and Internal Audit departments.

Vik specializes in leading Cybersecurity and Internal Audits (IA) driven by regulatory requirements and industry best practices such as NIST CSF, FFIEC CAT, NYDFS, ISO/IEC 27001, CIS standards., Vik has assisted several of his clients and provided subject matter expertise on Cybersecurity and cloud security assisting clients and business partners manage and address risks related to Cybersecurity.

His experience includes leading engagements across US, Europe and Asia-Pacific regions managing and delivering Cybersecurity solutions based on industry leading practices, security standards and frameworks. He has served across industries and verticals, including global fortune 500 and Russell 2000 clients in Financial Services, Insurance, Retail, Gaming, Manufacturing, Healthcare and Life-sciences industry.

Kaitlyn Ramirez is a Senior Manager for Grant Thornton's Advisory services and Kaitlyn leads the firm’s pragmatic approach for deploying high-value AI use cases and operationalizing the appropriate level of AI autonomy in the business's systems. As a leader in the enterprise information management arena, Kaitlyn assists organizations to achieve quality, trusted enterprise data assets by implementing master data management, data governance policies and right-sized data stewardship. Kaitlyn helps leaders take entrepreneurial aspirations for data assets (e.g., data monetization, data literacy across the organization, productized data features and calculated metrics) and stand up the requisite data architecture, service support, data scientist capabilities, and target operating model. She has deep experience with analytics platforms, open-source tools and research assets.
