In 2020, the Hubble Space Telescope achieves its 30th year in orbit. Hubble’s unique design, allowing it to be repaired and upgraded with advanced technology by astronauts, has made it one of NASA’s longest-living and most valuable observatories, beaming transformational astronomical images to Earth for decades. Hubble has fundamentally changed our understanding of the cosmos. Launched on December 25, 2021, James Webb Space Telescope is the successor to Hubble. Learn about the capabilities of the Webb Space Telescope and how is not a replacement for Hubble. Learn about the similarities and differences of Hubble space telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope including wavelength, size, orbit and how far will Webb see.
