SOA TechWatch Day

SOA TechWatch
1 February 2012
NC3A, The Hague
OVERVIEW

The NATO C3 Agency is pleased to announce a SOA TechWatch Day on 1 February 2012 to which industry are invited to present their SOA technologies and solutions.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is twenty-eight member nations (plus many partner nations and various external organizations), engaged in a complex, multi-faceted structure that remains a focus for provision of common defense and effective ‘management’ of operations, leveraging the strengths of many different actors.

The vision of the NATO Network Enabled Capability (NNEC) involves the linking together of sensors, decision makers, and weapon systems, as well as multinational military, governmental, and non-governmental agencies in a seamless, collaborative, planning, assessment and execution environment.

NNEC is founded upon a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) model, and the NATO Information Systems will need to transition to this paradigm for all new capabilities while supporting legacy applications within this new environment.

Currently, NATO is undertaking several large information system acquisitions as well as supporting operations requiring dynamic federation of heterogeneous systems from NATO and non-NATO nations and various international organisations. The SOA paradigm is fundamental for the success of these efforts.

NC3A is responsible for central planning, system integration, design, systems engineering, technical support and configuration control for NATO C3 Systems and installation. To this extent NC3A is playing a central role in managing acquisition and R&D programs in the realm of NNEC and SOA.

It is essential for NC3A to keep abreast of the latest developments in the SOA technologies.
