EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE AND POSITIVE SELF MANAGEMENT
What is it about emotionally resilient people that make them more effective at managing stress than non-resilient people? Specifically, emotionally resilient people tend to:
· Have realistic and attainable expectations and goals.
· Show good judgment and problem-solving skills.
· Be effective communicators with good people skills.
· Be empathetic toward other people
· Feel good about themselves and feel in control of their lives
An important skill that underpins resilience is effective self-management. A resilient person is able to manage a crisis in one part of their life whilst limiting its impact on the other parts of themselves. Or, in a more proactive way, knowing how to use the unaffected parts of their life to help them overcome the crisis or at least provide some measure of compensation.
Above all, we need to remember that it is ok to be down from time to time. It’s natural. However, it’s also just as natural to bounce back.
OBJECTIVES
- Gain an understanding of what makes people frustrated and angry in
public settings and why it is important to reduce people’s outrage
- Gain an understanding of three strategies to reduce outrage
- Identify
and adjust to different communication styles.

Use
techniques to overcome communication barriers and express empathy in the
workplace.
· Demystifying that conflict is not always bad – it has many advantages
· Demonstrate how to turn arguments into discussion
· Understand how we communicate and how we do not communicate
· Apply communication methods such as STAR, SPEAC, Inquiry etc
- Dealing with
Emotions, Outrage, Fear and anger in Public settings
- Communicate,
Negotiate & Influence
- Conflict management – skills and strategies
- Communication and effective engagement

TIMES: Please register at the Workshop by 8.15am. The program will commence promptly at 8.30am and finish at 4.30pm. Morning and afternoon teas and lunch will be provided.
CAR PARKING: Paid parking is available at Campbell Street parking. However the venue is within walking distance of Central railway station.
ACCOMMODATION: Overnight accommodation is not provided for Delegates. You will need to organize your own accommodation if required.
