Standardizing the Approach to Identify, Prioritize and Reduce Serious Injury and FatalitySAFETY & SUSTAINABILITYPANEL

The safety profession’s push to reduce Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIFs) must now be matched by an executive pull from the C-suite, boards, and investors. Historically, progress has been limited by the absence of recognized standards, benchmark data, and simple implementation frameworks. With the 2025 update to ASTM E-2920(25) and two new ASTM standards on SIF Prevention and Leadership Engagement, these gaps are closing. This session will explore how these standards empower safety professionals and leaders to align strategy, prioritize severity over TRIR, and apply practical tools to evaluate, develop, and strengthen SIF prevention and intervention strategies today. This session will also include dedicated time for Q&A, allowing participants to engage directly and discuss practical application within their organizations.

The Rising Storm – How the demographic drought's damage will look like a hurricaneLABOR SHORTAGE & TALENTSEMINAR

In 2021, Lightcast published a paper called The Demographic Drought which served as a sobering wakeup call, illustrating a future where labor would be the rare commodity. The large and hard-working Boomers population was leaving the workforce, and the population after them was not as big and much more likely to have a college degree. On the surface the problem wasn’t obvious but brought up an important question addressed in another article in late 2022, Who is Going to do the Work? Meaning, if everyone has a college degree, who is going to feed us, build our homes, take care of the elderly, become police or firefighters? Who was going to be in our military?

Now in 2025, the future has become clearer, and the math does not add up. As discussed in The Rising Storm: Building a Future-Ready Workforce to Withstand the Looming Labor Shortage, important industries will not have the labor force they need to function in the next 5 years. These industries are in the center of the path of certainty of the approaching storm. They will take damage from the hurricane, and if they are not prepared, the damage will be catastrophic. But, what if actions were taken now to prepare for the storm, could the damage be minimized? We will look at what factors created the storm, which industries are directly in its path, and which may not feel anything but small winds. We will show the only options that exist for these industries to protect themselves from the damage, and if they will provide adequate protection.

Planning, Design, and Construction Challenges in Healthcare*(Accredited) This program has been approved for a total of 1 continuing education credits (CECs) toward fulfillment of the requirements of Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) and [or] Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) renewal. GOVERNMENT & HEALTHCARE ROUNDTABLE

Hospital construction projects impact facility operations in major ways—both positively and negatively. They offer chances to upgrade infrastructure and improve care delivery, but they also introduce risks that can disrupt workflows, compromise safety, and strain resources. Staff members already working in the facility have critical insights into equipment needs, workflow design, safety protocols, and emergency procedures. Yet they’re often excluded from planning, limiting their ability to influence decisions that directly affect their work.

Involving outside subject matter experts—such as infection control specialists, clinical engineers, and regulatory consultants—adds essential expertise that complements internal knowledge. Their input helps ensure compliance and long-term functionality. Supply chain teams also play a key role by helping establish facility-specific standards for equipment and supplies. This promotes consistency across multiple sites, simplifies procurement, and improves training and maintenance.

This presentation will cover the current state of healthcare, outline construction phases, highlight operational challenges, and close with practical strategies for better collaboration and standardization.
