Asset Owner Training 

Day one of RI Europe | 11th June | 14:15 - 15:45

This 90 minute course would be suitable for asset owners early in the ESG process, those wanting to get an overview of RI/ESG or new members of experienced teams needing an introduction to the subject. Please note that these sessions are on a first come first serve basis and are restricted to asset owners who have pre-booked their places. Only 20 places available.

RI Fundamentals

Learning Outcomes:
  • Gain a clear understanding of what RI and ESG integration means in the context of asset management.
  • Enhance your understanding of regulatory and best practice requirements placed on boards and senior management of asset owner institutions, including public and private pension funds, endowments and charities.
  • Gain greater confidence in taking RI and ESG integration efforts forward within your organisation and ensuring alignment with your investment beliefs internally and externally.
  • To-dos that you can discuss with your organisation to enhance RI conviction and knowledge and practice.


Valborg Lie (lead trainer):

Valborg is a Responsible Investment (RI) specialist with 14 years’ experience working for, or with, asset owners such as public and private pension funds and Sovereign Wealth Funds. Valborg was previously Head of RI with the Asset Management Team at the Norwegian Ministry of Finance, which oversees the management of the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund.

Gordon Noble (lead trainer):

Gordon is Principal at Strategy61, an Australian management consulting business. Gordon was one of the first employees of the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). Gordon was instrumental in founding the Responsible Investment Academy, a global online training platform that educates investors on incorporating ESG issues into investment processes which is now the PRI Academy. 

Joanna Thompson de Colonges (co-trainer)

Joanna has worked with and for alternative investment manager groups for over 25 years, with both niche and major firms in trading, business development and retention, executive management level strategic marketing and client management roles, with both niche and major firms including Morgan Grenfell Securities, FP Consult, Fortis IM, GAM and and FX Concepts.
