Travel & Visitor Information
Entry Requirements
• Most nationalities require a visa to enter Iran. In many cases the visa can be issued on arrival subject to prior authorisation, which CAPA can facilitate. However, certain nationalities must obtain a visa prior to travel and their authorisation process can take two weeks or more. Please contact us for more information.
• Foreign visitors to Iran may be asked to show proof of travel insurance upon arrival and are therefore advised to carry their policy documentation.
Accommodation
• The CAPA Iran Aviation Summit Travel Pack includes hotel accommodation on the nights of 23rd and 24th January. Registered delegates will be provided with information on the process for booking additional nights if they wish to extend their stay.
Airport Transfers
• The CAPA Iran Aviation Summit Travel Pack includes VIP meet-and-assist on arrival at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport and return airport transfers by private car. The journey time to/from Tehran is around 60 to 90 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Money
• International credit cards cannot be used in Iran, nor can foreign cards be used to withdraw cash from ATMs.
• Visitors must therefore bring sufficient cash (US dollars and Euros are the easiest to exchange) for the duration of their stay to cover all anticipated costs (including the visa fee, additional hotel nights, shopping, touring and other incidentals), as overseas funds cannot be accessed once you are in Iran.
Weather
• The average day time temperature in Tehran in late January is a cool 8°C, and can drop to below 0°C at night. The venue is located at the base of the Alborz Mountains and it can snow occasionally.
Dress Code
• Although men in Iran do not generally wear ties, it is perfectly acceptable for foreign delegates to do so. Our hosts have advised us that overseas guests should feel comfortable dressing in formal business attire, including a tie, as they would at home.
• Women in Iran (including foreigners) are required to wear a headscarf at all times when in public, and arms and legs should be covered.
Local Customs
• Please note that the import or consumption of alcohol is strictly forbidden in Iran and the penalties for doing so are severe.
Pre- and Post-Tours
• Iran has a wealth of historical, cultural and natural attractions providing delegates with a wide variety of options for touring before or after the summit. From the cosmopolitan vibrancy of Tehran to world class ski resorts located just a couple of hours from the Summit venue, the beautiful and historic city of Isfahan, or the beaches of Kish, Iran offers a range of unique experiences for visitors. Attending the Summit will be an excellent opportunity to explore what this beautiful country has to offer. CAPA will provide registered delegates with details of the official travel agent who will be able to assist with these arrangements.
