Bio

Rocky L. Napier, DMD: Dr. Napier, a former electrical engineer, has been in the private practice of pediatric dentistry in Aiken, SC for over 27 years. As a graduating senior of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) - College of Dental Medicine, he served as the Student Body President of the MUSC. He received his internship and residency training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Dentistry and the Children's Hospital of Alabama, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Napier was honored to receive the Distinguished Alumnus Service Award from the MUSC, the Meritorious Achievement Award from the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA), and is a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of South Carolina-Aiken. He is a past-chair of the SC Chapter of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and past-president of the SCDA Central District Dental Society and the Aiken County Dental Society. Locally and nationally, Dr. Napier serves as a strong advocate for children's dental issues and the established, traditional practice of dentistry, including the patient-centered dental home. Dr. Napier has been an associate member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of its Section on Oral Health since 2006. He is a national spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) since 2007 and the AAPD Public Policy Advocate for South Carolina since 2016. From 2010-2014, he served as the 16th District member to the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Council on Access, Prevention, and Inter-professional Relations (CAPIR), and is currently completing the final year of his second term (2011-2017) on the Academy of General Dentistry’s (AGD) Dental Practice Council (DPC). Dr. Napier is a 16th District Alternate Delegate to the ADA’s House of Delegates for 2014-18 and a Region 19 Delegate to the AGD House of Delegates for 2014-2018.

At the state level, Dr. Napier is President of the SCDA for 2017, President-elect of the SC AGD for 2016-2017, and is a charter member and Chair-elect for 2016-2017 of the SC DHEC Oral Health Division’s Oral Health Advisory Board. He is a past board member and current Secretary of the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry for 2017.
