Description: While the prosthetic materials in Implant Dentistry are continually evolving, they can only reach their full potential when proper prosthetic and surgical planning are completed in advance of the definitive treatment. This presentation details the planning, final surgery and immediate temporization of a full arch mandibular Implant supported prosthetic using a Dual Guide. This dual guide performs the function of a Bone Reduction guide, Implant Placement guide and immediate temporary seating guide. The seating guide works via lock and key indices between the bone reduction guide and the immediate temporary, resulting in predictable occlusion, esthetics and soft tissue clearance. By using the clinical and digital planning protocol outlined in this presentation, Dentists will learn how to ensure the end result is prosthetically driven and will result in ideal esthetics, phonetics, cleansability and most importantly, will act as a long lasting prosthetic with decreased chances of failure.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how to ensure ideal restorability of dental implants with use of radiographic and prosthetic guides during the planning phase of implantology.
  • Understand prosthetic and laboratory requirements associated with full arch implant therapy and how to ensure those requirements are met to prevent material breakdown.
  • Expand knowledge of the use of CBCT technology for planning and fabrication of implant placement and bone reduction guides and learn proper CBCT capture protocols to minimize imaging inaccuracies.
