Description: The connection between oral health and systemic conditions
is now widely recognized by both medical and dental practitioners. This course is designed to update dental
professionals on current research on the mouth/body connection. Specifically,
the association of periodontal disease to pancreatic cancer, heart disease,
diabetes, complications with pregnancy, erectile dysfunction, pneumonia,
stroke, cognitive disorders, and more. The effect of these findings on patients
and the future of dentistry will be discussed, including how to communicate
with patients on oral systemic health.
This course is in collaboration with PDS Institute.
