“Big data” is a popular centerpiece in products and yet the value proposition is often unclear. Creating value requires consideration of both data and customer in asking questions, choosing a model, and communicating results and uncertainties. With energy analytics as an exemplar case, this talk illustrates opportunities and challenges in using data science as a tool to bring value to a customer.
