OpenVMS Boot Camp 2015
Network integration of OpenVMS with other platforms

Track: Network & Cluster

, Technical Director, XDelta Limited

This session will give an overview of the networking aspects of OpenVMS. One of the most important aspects of working with OpenVMS systems is their integration with other systems and the surrounding network and storage infrastructure. There are a number of important aspects that must be considered from a network integration viewpoint: - High availability using LAN failover and “failsafe IP” - Traffic flow separation using multiple NICs and VLAN tagging - Cluster traffic with SCS and TCPIP - Non-TCPIP protocols such as DECnet, AMDS, LAT and MOP - File sharing between OpenVMS and other systems with NFS and CIFS - External authentication using LDAP and integration with Windows Active Directory - Storage subsystem management
