INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

The three (3) awards have eligibility, submission requirements and judging criteria different for each. Individual award nominees are shortlisted nationally to the top 3 applicants (in each category) as assessed by an expert panel. Winners are announced at the Parks & Leisure Australia National Awards of Excellence Gala Dinner held during the National Conference.


AWARD CATEGORIES




David Aldous Student of the Year Award
 
Liam Cole - 2014 David Aldous Student of the Year

Named in honour of the late Dr. David Aldous (a recipient of the Frank Stewart Distinguished Service Award), this award seeks to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions made by students in a course of study leading to a nationally recognised qualification in the sector throughout Australia.

Nominees receive:

• Return flights to the Parks and Leisure Australia National Conference
• Final day delegate registration for the National Conference
• 1 nights’ accommodation in city of the National Conference
• 1x ticket to the National Awards of Excellence gala dinner

The winner of the David Aldous Student of the Year Award will be announced at the National Conference and will receive:

A 12 month Parks and Leisure Australia membership

 



Emerging Leader of the Year Award
 
Thomas Astell-Burt - 2014 Emerging Leader of the Year

This award recognises outstanding achievement by a young or emerging professional (under 30 years of age) who has made a significant contribution to the parks and leisure industry  

Nominees will receive:

Return flights to the Parks and Leisure Australia National Conference
Final day delegate registration to the National Conference
1 nights’ accommodation in city of the National Conference
1 x ticket to the National Awards of Excellence gala dinner

The winner of the Emerging Leader Award will be announced at the National Conference and will receive:

 A trip to the New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) National   Conference (including flights and accommodation)
 A 12 month Parks and Leisure Australia membership

 



Frank Stewart Distinguished Service Award
 
Cathy Kiss - 2014 Frank Stewart Distinguished Service award

Named after a former Federal Minister for Tourism & Recreation, this is the most prestigious individual award bestowed by Parks & Leisure Australia. The award salutes the significant contribution an individual has made to the development, promotion and advocacy of the parks and leisure industry through their personal and professional endeavours over a substantial period.

The Frank Stewart Distinguished Service Award winner receives an Honorary Life Membership to Parks and Leisure Australia and a commemorative plaque acknowledging the awarding of this prestigious honour.
