Claire Opila attended Boston College where she received her B.A. in psychology. While there, she conducted research on empathy and sibling relationships, finding that people who have higher quality sibling relationships have a greater ability to empathize with others. After graduating, she went to S&P Capital IQ where she worked in sales and then product management with their Real-Time team. On this team, she worked on building an application to deliver streaming stock market information and analytics in a flexible web-based format to financial services professionals. Currently, Claire is pursuing her M.S. in Information Systems, Connective Media at Cornell Tech. In this program, she learns about technology, psychology, and entrepreneurship and how these can be combined to build technology for humans to use and connect with one another. At Cornell Tech, she has done research on emotion and online communication.
