Graduate Student
University of Illinois Urbana Champaign

Farzaneh Khajouei received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering in 2010 from Sharif University of Technology, Iran. Subsequently, she started her graduate school at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where received a M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering in 2012 and an M.Sc in Mathematics in 2014. She is currently a PhD student in Computer Science . Her advisor is Professor Saurabh Sinha. Her research lies in the area of Computational Biology. She is interested in building and analyzing quantitive models for gene regulatory networks. Her main goal is to develop a framework for quantifying the predictive power of computational models for the purpose of studying gene regulatory systems. her motivation for developing this framework is to enable the biologist to predict the effects on gene expression of single nucleotide changes in enhancer regions, and of dosage changes in regulatory proteins and signaling molecules.
