About the Event: QLD Masterclass - Good to great: Helping small (but brilliant) organisations punch above their weight to fundraising success

This all-day session is aimed at anyone in a small to medium size organisation who has ambitious plans for growth and wants to hear from experienced and candid fundraising professionals who have taken, and are taking, their organisations from good to great.

Find out how three local charities have punched above their weight by:

  • Knowing where to focus their efforts for the best return
  • Getting some quick fundraising wins
  • Understanding how to get board involvement and investment
  • Attracting the right people to join their ambitious teams
  • Creating a culture of fundraising and high performance
  • Navigating through the highs and lows of growth to stay the course

The Masterclass will be led by Jonathon Grapsas, a seasoned fundraising professional who is passionate about helping small organisations grow.

He will be joined throughout the day by three incredible fundraising leaders who will share, warts and all, how their organisations have achieved, or are on the way to achieving serious fundraising growth.

Damian Topp, CEO of the PA Research Foundation who has overseen the foundation’s research commitments quadruple over the last 7 years.

Sara Mansfield, Fundraising Manager of Save the Bilby fund. The fund has over the last 2 years set up a flourishing individual giving program which is now starting to see the fruits of its labour with an active breeding program now releasing bilbies into the wild and arresting the sharp decline of bilby numbers in Australia.

Carly Fradgley, founder and CEO of Baby Give Back. An organisation that in just over 2 years had helped thousands of Gold Coast families in need to ensure every baby deserves an equal start in life by providing clothing packs, nappies, wipes and essential baby equipment.

An entertaining, engaging and sought after presenter, Jonathon brings that rare mix of inspiration and pragmatism to the sessions he delivers.

Jonathon has a vast amount of experience helping charities great and small transform their fundraising. In the last few years in particular he’s driven growth for events of all shapes and sizes; fledgling, mature and new peer to peer events. Sara Mansfield
Fundraising Manager
Save the Bilby Fund

As well as juggling lots of clients on the agency side, Sara also spends part of her time working for Save the Bilby Fund as their Fundraising Manager. A career fundraiser, Sara has worked with and for charities of all shapes and sizes but is particularly passionate about working with small organisations who desperately want to grow.

Sara has lost count of the number of charities she’s worked with in Australia since arriving from the UK in 2005. She was a key driver in the setting up of Pareto Phone when she arrived and is now supporting a number of small to medium organisations grow their individual giving income via a number of channels.

She is a pragmatist above all – her approach to growth is to just keep getting things done, learning from them and refining. Working at the coal face for Save the Bilby Fund has meant producing copy, design and targets for appeals, setting up a CRM from scratch, facebook community management and advertising – all without any other resource or third party support. Sara makes things happen and has recently enjoyed the many wonderful comments and donations from their Tax appeal, which generated just under $100K.
